The 10/100/1000BASE-T SFP transceiver provides auto-negotiating 10/100/1000 Mbps connectivity over Cat5e or better Ethernet cabling with an RJ45 interface. It plugs into any SFP MSA slot, is hot-pluggable, and follows the SFF-8472 management interface.
Typical deployments
Copper SFP modules are the simplest way to add RJ45 ports to a fiber switch: short building-backbone runs, router and NID connections in telecom closets, and any link that already sits on structured copper cabling. The 100 m limit is set by the standard itself, not by the module.
